Fast Sailwork Gets Graham Dalton Back in the Race Graham Dalton’s A Southern Man AGD made an unscheduled stop in Bermuda on the 2nd leg of the Velux 5 Oceans race due to a shredded genoa and autopilot problems, after the vicious storm that wrought havoc on the east coast. The carbon jib was shredded and tangled in the rigging and had to be cut away in order to set sail.
Graham and Steve Hollis of Ocean Sails/Doyle Bermuda managed to cut away the sail freeing the rigging within a few hours of Graham’s arrival. Unfortunately Graham had to endure a 48 hour lay over as per the rules of the race. Upon leaving the St George’s Harbour while hoisting the mainsail a tear was discovered in the center of the sail near the head and Steve was on hand to perform a quick fix.
